 SPECIAL PROJECTS

SAR GREEN SPACES PATCH PROGRAM
FOR ALL YOUTH SPONSORED BY A FEDERATED GARDEN CLUB

All youth groups must have sporsorship, active participation and cooperation of a Federated Garden Club within the South Atlantic Region of National Garden Clubs.

It is expected that all reports, press releases and media coverage will recognize that the South Atlantic Region of National Garden Clubs supported the project.

Youth must be participants, not “recipients” of Green Spaces Projects and it is highly recommended that flowering trees be included in project with emphasis on gardening study, civic development and/or environmental concerns.

It is recommended that at least one tangible “deliverable” be done as others will want know how project was carried out.  Example, a brochure or pamphlet could be created that can be shared with others.  These are considered “handouts” or “walk a ways.”  These deliverables do not have to be fancy, just readable.

Green Space Patch will be offered to all youth that have sponsoring federated garden club submitting an award application as proof of participation.

Green Space Gardens of Choice, but not limited to these:

  • Butterfly Garden
  • Fence Garden – suitable to area
  • Native Plant Garden – research native plants and their requirements
  • Community Green Space Garden – subdivision entrance, vacant lot
  • Learning Landscapes Garden – labeled material
  • State Emblem Garden – may contain state emblems, flower, stone, grass, wildflower
  • Wildlife Habitat Garden – may be placed in schoolyard, park, backyard, or other sitable area in community (Recommended that garden be registered as a Wildlife Habitat.
