West Virginia Garden Club has dedicated seven new blue Star Memorial Markers since May 2007.  I was honored to offer greetings from NGC WVGC at these dedication ceremonies.  Serveral more Blue Star Markers are in the planning stages and almost $20,000 is available to purchase and install them during this administration.

The $1200 Fund needed for the memorial bench for Eleanor Cain has been collected and sent to the WV Botanic Garden.

The bench will be installed in the butterfly garden with the dedication scheduled for September 24, 2008 in conjunction with the Monongahela Cheat Fall District meeting.  Thanks to the members of SAR for your generosity to spearhead this bench in honor of Eleanor!  It will be a permanent reminder of our love for her.

Our fundraising project is a cookbook, "A Taste of Almost Heaven - Favorite Recipes from WVGC."  It has been sent to the printer, and we should start delivery of the 300 pre-sold cookbooks in January 2008.

We are lookiing forward to hosting SAR Regional Director Anne Brown at our 2008 WVGC Convention March 30 through April 1 at Stonewall Resort.  Julia Clevett will present a traditional design program on Monday evening.  George Longenecker will present a PowerPoint program of the West Virginia Botanic Garden at the Monday business meeting.
